In the car going to the worldest deepest pit with
Paul Rudd, Selena Gomez, and Craig Roberts.
Netflix comes out with many originals such as Fuller House and Hemlock Grove which have had good intentions but hasn't gone well. Well, everybody was roaring about this Netflix original movie, The Fundamentals of Caring, written and directed by Rob Burnett. When the movie was released on June 24, 2016 it got an 8.2/10 on Metacritic in just a few days, while Rotten Tomatoes rated it with a solid 77%. "Solid performances and some genuinely sharp humor" says a movie critic from Rotten Tomatoes.

Starring Paul Rudd, Selena Gomez, and Craig Roberts fans were going crazy. The movie is about an 18-year old boy named Trevor (Craig Roberts) with muscular dystrophy who needs a caregiver. Ben (Paul Rudd) with a traumatic past and wife wanting to get a divorce, was recently trained to be a caregiver and decides to take the job. Trevor is always making some joke or pulling pranks. Everyday he sits at home eating waffles and drawing maps of the worlds lamest attractions. Ben who is still upset by his past decides to take him on a road trip to see some of the attractions-the worlds largest cow and the worlds deepest pit. Along the way Ben and Trevor's friendship grow and both seem to help each other out. On the way to the pit they pick up a runaway foul-mouthed teenage girl (Selena Gomez) who doesn't have a filter and a soon-to-be sweet mother (Megan Ferguson). Of course there are some twists along the way but it only makes the movie even more interesting and shocking.

Although many loved the movie, there has to be some downfalls. Ben's past has some flashbacks in the movie. The flashbacks occur very often and are the same scene. It's obvious that Burnett wanted to make that scene significant but it could have been used differently. Maybe he could have made one big flashback and Ben explain it. Also, Gomez's character seemed more than fine to just hop in the car with two complete strangers. Even with the downfalls the movie was still incredible.
The Fundamentals of caring is both emotional and hilarious, categorizing it as a dramedy. It's based off of the book, The Fundamentals of Caregiving, though many loved the version of the  adventurous and funny yet heartwarming movie better. With a great story line, actors, and director this movie is impossible to miss. Catch the movie on Netflix!
