Bates Motel is a show based off of Psycho and a series of unheard of events happens to a boy and his mother throughout the show as they get closer and closer. The main characters are Norman Bates and his mom, Norma Bates. After Norman's father dies, they move to a house and buy a motel. The series focuses mainly on Norman's mind and how it works. Norman has been attached to his psychotic mother since as long as he can remember. He has major set backs in the show like the will to be his mother, his insincere brother, and his struggle to have friends in high school. Norman often has black outs where he is a completely different person. He always results to his mom to bring him back into his normal state and tell him what to do. I like this show because it is a lot to take in and understand; you have to understand Norman's background and why he is the way he is. You can't just watch one episode and completely understand what goes on in Norman's mind.

Norma Bates, Norman's mother, has been manipulating Norman into anything she wants him to do since he was just a boy. Norman has been in his mom's trap for as long as he can remember and he can't get out. Norman goes into these black outs and the only way he can get out is if his mom helps him out of them. One night, Norman even thought he was his mother. He put on his mom's robe and started cooking breakfast in the middle of the night. He proved to his brother that he believed to be Norma Bates, not Norman.

Norman's brother, Dylan, is quite the character in this TV series. He is not afraid of ANYTHING. He helps a lot with Norman and getting him back in his own mental state. But behind Norman's knowledge, his brother is up to some more mysterious things than he thought. His brother works for a company who sells marijuana. He is dealing with drugs every single day, and he's getting paid very well. Throughout the series, Norman's brother faces the chaos and hardships of dealing with drugs every day and almost getting killed a few times.
(Norman's older brother, Dylan)
Throughout the show, Norman has a hard time making friends at school. In the first episode, a few of the girls tease him and make him feel special, but that feeling doesn't last for long. Norman got played by his first crush ever. He is very hurt and results to talking to one of his teachers. His teacher crosses some lines and Norman ends up killing her when he is in one of his blackouts. This proves how dangerous Norman can be. He meets one friend, Emma, who is willing to let him into her life and they grow to be very close throughout the show. Norman is always pushing her away but she always comes back to him. She just wants to be a part of the Bates family. She even volunteers to help out with Norma's motel and work there every day to become part of their family.
(Norman's best friend throughout the entire series, Emma)
Bates Motel is full of exciting surprises and will always keep you guessing. You will not be able to turn off the TV! Talk about binge watching! This show deserves 4 and a half stars; it is a great show, but the plot sometimes lacks background. I definitely recommend starting this series on Netflix!
